Son of a divorce, Oscar retreats into himself and is often the target of the class bully. As he dreams of his revenge, a man and his daughter move into their apartment complex next door. Despite the fact the mysterious girl Eli is never in school, They form a friendship. Not all is as it seems though as dead bodies begin to appear around the area.

The two leads here are excellent, Hedebrant all the times seems to be holding back as if near unable to express his true feelings and Leandersson accurately portrays a being much older than she appears. Also Per Ragnar as Eli's Keeper Håkan gives a performance which subtly suggests that their relationship is not actually that of Father and Daughter.

Tomas Alfredson working from the screenplay of John Ajvide Lindqvist (who also the original novel) gives us a wonderfully slow burning movie which focuses more on characterization than blood and gore (whilst there is some, most is left to the imagination). Whilst there some of the usual vampire lore here, In most cases its viewed in wonderfully offbeat and interesting way. The CGI here is used sparingly yet to great effect. Whilst the pace is slow, it is always engaging all the way up until the extraordinarily shocking ending.

Let the Right One in is a movie that asks a lot of it's audience yet gives back in spades. Brilliant Stuff.
